The Polymer Engineering Laboratory forms an 'academic technical centre', dedicated to internationally recognised research on polymer materials, all of which has application and relevance to manufacturing industry. An impressive array of state-of-the-art research instrumentation is available through the department for major investigation of physical/chemical structure and properties, polymer testing, polymer processing and compounding, spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography, thermal analysis, rheology, microscopies. The main research topics in laboratory are synthesis and characterization of new polymer materials; and the development of new materials via polymer blends. Our goals are to advance scientific and engineering knowledge in these areas, to disseminate the information by high quality routes, and to transfer this knowledge to our students as well as to polymer related industry.
